Principal Consulting Arborist, Landscape Architect
creating landscapes and treescapes that shine
My Ethos
My passion is to create landscapes that shine. Whether for large projects or small, the design process starts with clear focused thought to create a harmonious landscape that works within the natural and built environment. This creativity and sensitivity to the stewardship and conservation of nature is coupled with extensive experience of landscape project management.
I work directly with owners, developers, builders, institutions, local authorities as well as with architects, engineers, planners and construction contractors for their clients. In my view, building an open dialogue and a long-term working relationship with clients is key to a successful project. Please don't hesitate to get in touch for an initial chat - I look forward to working with you in the future.
My profile
I graduated from Leeds Polytechnic, School of Architecture and Landscape in England with a Degree and Graduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture. I then gained professional qualifications and worked in England for a number of years before coming to Canada to work. I professionally qualified as a Landscape Architect in Ontario in 1995 and in 1996 I started my own practice in Toronto. As my practice grew and developed, I saw it important to become a Certified Arborist to better serve my clientele. So, in 2004 I successfully completed my arborist certification.
Over the years I have been fortunate to win numerous awards in the field of Landscape Architecture and have worked on a wide range of projects, small and large as my portfolio illustrates and have met a variety of people in the public and private sector. In my continued drive to bring the beauty of landscape and all it offers, I decided in 2013 to take a short two and half month sabbatical from work and become an Environmental Education Intern with A Rocha Canada in Vancouver. This experience has fed my desire to do more to bring my work and love of our environment to pursue community education awareness of landscapes and its benefits both locally and aboard.
I enjoy a wide range of activities including: canoeing, cycling, hiking, golf and bird watching. I have been fortunate enough to travel in North America and Great Britain as well as to Europe, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Sinai Desert, Jordan, Israel, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Bahrain, Hungary, Costa Rica, Peru and Barbados. Haiti is also now added to this list where I joined a team that regularly went to Haiti to improve the living environment for the children of Haiti.
